www.RoBorg.co.uk - Javascript and PHP Projects :: Home

Welcome to www.RoBorg.co.uk

Why are you here? The chances are I directed you here to check out one of more of the cool widgets I've developed! Check the Widgets section of the menu on the left.

Colours in PHP
A simple class to make dealing with RGB/HSL/HTML colours easier in GD, with a couple of examples.

Useless - Javascript Image Functions
Think javascript can't do things like rotate and blur images without resorting to filters? Think again!

NEW - www.Game-Phones.com - Mobile Phones for Gamers has launched!
Game-Phones.com is a brand new e-commerce site, selling cheap mobile phones in the UK.

GeoNews has launched!
See what is happening where in the news in close to real time! GeoNews is a mash-up between several RSS News feeds (e.g. Google News and the BBC) and Google Maps. Locations are automatically extracted from the news articles and plotted on a map!

What are these widgets?

The widgets on this site are all small (or sometimes not so small) web scripts or applications I've developed in my spare time for fun. Some of them are to show off a particular technology, such as a AJAX.
They're mostly written in PHP/mySQL and Javascript, which is what I do for my day job too.

Who is RoBorg?

I studied at Warwick University and came out with a nice MPhys (why didn't I do Comp Sci? I don't really know...). I'm currently working a PHP developer for a mobile phone company, writing e-commerce sites like Snap and Chat and various intranet modules, whitelabeling systems and so on - we're always busy!

When I'm not working, I do pretty much the same thing - developing PHP and Javascript applications and widgets. Most of them never see the light of day, but a few of them will wind up here or on my Javascript tutorial site, Geniusbug Javascript. Incidentally, Geniusbug Javascript contains a rather nifty syntax highlighter that I re-used on HTML-Channel.com, the home of Undernet's #html channel.

If you've no idea what the Undernet is, it's an IRC network - You can sometimes (ok, most of the time I'm not at work) find me on there in #html and a few other channels.

If you've read down this far you must be pretty bored and I know you didn't come from slashdot! If you're wondering where the name "RoBorg" comes from, it's from Cyborg by Isaac Asimov and is a contraction of "robotic" and "organism". It has absolutely nothing to do with Romania or with some weird game thing...

Finally, a big thanks to Luce <3 for designing this site!
